I've been thinking a lot about the new world of music, and the wider world of art and commerce in general. Our consumption of music has changed so drastically in such a short time, it's breathtaking. On the one hand there's more music out there and more music trading hands than ever before. On the other hand, monetizing those transactions is more and more slippery. Yes, the opportunities are everywhere.... but making a living is the real challenge.
That being said, it seems to me the real path, to reaching people, is, more than EVER, through community. The community of like-minded artists, music fans, fellow believers! I guess it's always been that way, it's just that the internet has upped the ante and crowded the field. I just have to get with the program!
So, of course, I've been thinking about the artists that I SO believe in. Why not support each OTHER, root for each OTHER, and spread the word/the works.
So, in case you haven't noticed:
The bodacious Andrea Scher https://www.superherodesigns.com/jewelry/index.html whose necklaces always make me feel like a million bucks, and whose journals and photos always make me think, cry, swoon.
Lesley Brody Nelson... https://www.superherodesigns.com/jewelry/index.html I have collected her quilts for a very long time. I don't even have enough beds or wall space for all my beauties, but I believe she is brilliant with her design, sense of color, and attention to detail.
My friend Ronnie White, who created the original "Stilt Boy" (remember the story about my friend Laura Weinstein thinking that the song "At the Still Point" was called "Stilt Boy") Ronnie's piece "Birds on a Wire" is on the back cover of the new CD. And here is one of her latest creations, "The nurse" for more info, contact the office here at BAD DOG.
Andrea introduced me to these incredible jewelry/belt buckle geniuses Fabian and Felipe https://fabianyfelipe.com/buckles.html Check ou the COURAGE belt buckle and the serenity medallion.
superhero necklace AND serenity medallion!
And finally, the new press photos are by Sandrine Lee, the incredible French Sprite. Obviously we had way too much fun (see new pix in the photo section) https://sandrinelee.com/
Bottom line, we have to support each other, and encourage the commerce that will sustain us!
More soon, as big John would say WHAMMY!
